Unusually among cathedrals these days, we make no entrance charge.  We do, however, make a small charge to visitors who wish to take photographs or video.

These charges currently stand at £2.00 for photography and £10.00 if people wish to use a tripod. You pay this sum to the cathedral shop on arrival and receive a small sticky label telling the stewards and vergers that you have obtained appropriate permission.

No photography is allowed in the Cathedral Library.

Because of Health and Safety restrictions it is, unfortunately, necessary to get permission in writing from the dean if you wish to use a tripod. Send an email to
